I am an electric bass and double bass player, as well as a composer. After the conservatoire, I have attended several jazz and rock master classes, studying also the guitar, the piano and the cello. I have been teaching my instruments for more tha 25 years now. I have coordinated music courses for institutions like Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Fondazione Arturo Toscanini in Parma and Idea in Bologna. Every year several students who are enrolled at the local conservatories come to me to prepare their annual examinations, from the theory test to the instrument diploma. After working as a teacher in several music schools, in 1996 I decided to found the "Centro di Formazione Musicale", a music training centre based in Bologna which I directed until 2000, designing the course programmes and publishing a number of instructional methods and multimedia CDs available in Italian, English and French. I have recently founded BassLab.it (or BLIT), a new music school for bass and double bass players (but open ot other instrumentalists, too), where I offer a range of specialised courses for students of all levels. I have done lots of research into music distance education; one of my latest achievements was the design of suonatidentro.com, currently the most state-of-art Italian music learning website. I have performed (and still do!) in both symphony and chamber orchestras, as well as in jazz and rock bands. I have appeared in a number of recordings as a leader, side man, arranger and artistic producer. Recently I have grown extremely interested in ethnic music, especially Hindustan and Japanese, as well as in electronic music. In this respect, I am currently engaged in a new project of solo bass and double bass live performance with real time electronic effects. |
