Bassista Contemporaneo is the title of the learning textbook series I have developed for my electric bass course. The complete course is structured into 4 volumes for 100 lessons overall, which lay the technical foundations to play any music styles (rock, funk, jazz, Latin…). The aim of this course is to eliminate any technical, theoretical or musical doubts to enable every musician to obtain his/her best possible results.

In particular Bassista Contemporaneo Volume 1, now available in a new edition, is a result of my twenty-year experience as a teacher. It offers 25 progressive lessons that explain the techniques of the two hands and how to build accompaniment lines in modern music. It especially focuses on chords, arpeggios, scales, sight reading and ear training. It comes with an audio cd providing original music bases, both in complete and minus one versions, useful to practice the book exercises.
After volume 1, the course continues with Volumes 2, 3 e 4, where the student will learn how to play the instrument as a solist and use it in various music genres.

For many years I felt I needed a manual helping me to teach comprehensive sight reading to bass players. Eventually this is the textbook I have produced: it deals with rhythm, shifts on the keyboard, tonal and atonal style, bass and treble clefs, chord accompaniment. I think it is a very useful tool if you want to become a versatile bass player.

I have designed these manuals to teach double bass. They analyse the bass keyboard position by position and progressively develop the bow technique. The first two volumes provide the fundamentals to master an instrument which is undoubtedly difficult to play but at the same time so full of still unexplored possibilities.

This was the first instructional CD-Rom I produced with my colleagues from Idea and the "Centro di Formazione Musicale" in Bologna. It provides electric bass, guitar and drums lessons useful to improve a musician's approach to his/her instrument. This product was a very challenging test for me.

 

Another instructional Cd-Rom produced by Idea that enabled me to test both my music skills (I composed and recorded the music tracks) and my organisational expertise in the music sector (I was responsable for the content development).

 

This video provides an overview of the results you can achieve using my electric bass learning method. Both the video and the audio samples were recorded in my own studio with pretty simple means, and I really had a good time doing it. This experience enabled me to pay attention to a number of features on the instrument approach which are often neglected when you need to focus only on the sound.
